This seminar series brought you by the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences, University of Melbourne will provide a complete overview of the process by which drugs are discovered and ultimately developed into marketable medications.
The series will commence in June 2019, include 13 seminars on the below topics and conclude in March 2020.

- Small molecule drug discovery – from hit identification to lead molecules
- Protein therapeutic discovery and development
- Vaccines and innate immunotherapeutics
- Future therapeutics
- Preclinical drug development: identifying a safe, potent, and efficacious drug

- IP strategy
- Deal making and licensing
- Creating a biotech startup
- Finding funds
You may register to attend any number of seminars - however, you are encouraged to register for the entire series. Details of presenters will be provided prior to each seminar.
Target audience: UoM academic (salaried or honorary) staff at all levels, with content focussed on, but not restricted to those currently developing a therapeutic. PhD students may register but preference will be given to academic staff Levels A-E.
Seminars will be held fortnightly and/or monthly from 9.30-11.30 AM, followed by light refreshments and networking, at various venues across campus.
